Hi all,
im building an arch oven with a flat front and rear face. Do i need to create a downward curve from the top of the arch to the door or is it ok to leave it vertically flat, which would be about 20cm(3 bricks approx). A bit like attached with external chimney.

I come here with a specific question about my build (work in progress). This has been a challenging project with a lot of learnings. I would like to get any advice on the next steps in my build. Connecting the dome with the arch. I opted to keep arch structurally sound but this means that the dome pieces that connect dome and arch will "hang" like in a void. Of course they will be cut to touch the arch well and they will be held in place by the additional ring layers but still Im not sure if this is structurally sound. Any advice/experience with this would be appreciated
Have a nice day!

I'm currently in the process of building a 30 inch homebrew cast oven.
I've built the dome separate to the base and plan on transferring it over once it has fully cured.
The base is 4 inch thick 5:1 perlicrete and will have fire brick sitting over it as the oven floor.
My question is around where the dome should be placed onto. Is it best for the base to be placed onto the firebrick base (stopping me from being able to replace the covered bricks), perlicrete base or an added outer layer of something entirely different?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there all.
im thinking of doing something like the attached, but with an extra access arch around the in wall arch that doubles up as the flue/chimney vent. Is that going to work to draw heat and smoke out?
thanks.

Hi folks. New here and in process.
Due to limited space I am considering building an arch oven left to right. Looking a bit like a tunnel chamber but stretched out and the acces on the side in the middle. It will have a rear vertical wall and a vertical face with access through an arch. On the outside of said arch will be the access arch that doubles up as the flue vent.
my concern is about exit flow as the front wall is vertical and I haven't seen this anywhere. All the ovens seem to have a down slope to the exit door and out to the chimney flue. A bit like the attached but with an access door arch and external chimney.
is this doable??
Sorry if photo i fringes anything im not phone literate enough to edit it. However it is from breastfeeding ovens whom I have nothing to do with, only photo similar to my idea.
Thanks all.
