  • Broken Linked Photos - hunting for them

I am going to pick on Marcel cause he has a thick skin.

If you are searching through the old threads, say those by Marcel or maybe PaulAges, You may find that some posts have broken links to photos. What has happened is that the owner of the photo has re-arranged where his photos reside or s/he has chaged the name or s/he may have removed them from the source location.

For example let's take a look at this thread

    http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/showthread.php?t=325

Marcel has kindly noted that his photo no longer shows up in the original thread but he has corrected it in this copy of part of his thread.
The original photo was stored as

    ht tp://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a318/marceld/Pompeii%20Oven%20Construction/77LeftsidePerliteDome.jpg
(I had to embed a space in the link otherwise the software for this board would shrink the name)

This is what you see when the picture is embedded in the post

read up on how to embed pictures by going to the FAQ section or I have linked part of it here

    http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/misc.php?do=bbcode

sometime after he made his original post he has resorted or modified the location of the file and it is now called/found

    http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a318/marceld/75.jpg

    (this is the picture below)

So how do you find pictures that have been moved from their original location?

I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser...

right click on the picture and then hit "properties" there it will tell you where the file was supposed to be. In this case the file was in the web page from Photobucket. I don't use Photobucket but I figured that A318 is some sort of Photobucket sub category and that Marceld is that actual main section. So I drop this into a new browser page and then go looking at the photos posted on Photobucket by Marcel. Now it takes a bit of sleuthing to find out what pick goes with the thread....
