This forum has been an outstanding resource in my quest to build my first WFO!! Thank you all. I am posting a pic, not because the project is much to look at, but to assure those of you who think you don’t have the requisite skill set that you probably do.
The dome one looks a little cone-headed because I has a half-bucket of mortar left and I was thinking of going for additional thermal mass, sort of. After some consideration, I think I will opt for “boxing the dome in with a steel frame and masonry veneer, filling the void space with loose perlite, on top of the ceramic blanket.
i would love to hear any advice some of you real craftsmen and women might offer.
