    Re: My oven Plans

I'd imagine you'd be fine. Mine seems very stout.

I mostly used the very best decking screws I could find, and some thick lag bolts through all of the supports.

      Thanks for that buddy.

Did you place flags / paving slabs directly on the wooden frame?

I'll give it a go and see what I get.

Planning on using some Fence Posts (4x4) and decking panels for sides etc.

We do get a lot of rain here and that is only my concern, but will keep treating it every year and hopefully it should be ok.

        Re: My oven Plans

I used 6x6's for the supports. I would't go any smaller. They are hard to cut, but worth it if you want this stand to last, as I'm sure you do. When you cut these, they need to be all perfectly the same height.

The sides and ribs in the middle are 2x6's. Also notice how I have the first set of inner ribs flush against the 6x6 beams. Those are lag bolted into those beams. Don't rely on only decking screws because they are not meant for this.

On the top I used 3/4 inch ply, then 1/2 rock board/ cement board. I assume you are setting your casa2g on the insulation that comes with the oven correct?

Good luck, it's a fun project. While your at it, you can make a pizza prep table the same way.

          Thanks,

I guess you are right I will source some 6x6 for the posts and yes I noticed the top ribs flushed which was a great idea.

I'm thinking of adding an extra support in the middle too, possibly may stack some bricks up instead which just provide that extra strength for the top.

My oven is similar to the Casa2G Cast Mould, but not the same thing and doesn't come with the insulation base. I bought it off eBay from someone who used it for about a year and decided it wasn't for him.

I was thinking to put plywood, then some paving flags (2foot x 2foot) and then the Ceramic Fibre Board followed by the Fire Bricks. Do you think this will be sufficient as I don't want the heat to burn the stand down...lol?

Like the idea of the prep stand too so will ensure I have extra timber for that.

            Re: My oven Plans

Great find on eBay!!!! I looked there all the time, but only saw crappy ovens on there. Score for you!

The top and bottom insulation for your oven are probably as important as the construction of the dome and floor. Don't cut corners on the insulation. Without the right stuff your oven will transfer it's heat right out of the dome and never reach 850-1000 degrees. Also, yes you run the risk of burning down your stand. My oven came with 2" thick rigid insulation for the floor and 3 inches of fiber for the dome. I'm not sure where you can get this stuff locally. I bet FB would sell you what you need though.

If you build a cement stand there are other insulation materials you could use. But with the wood stand you really need the stuff from forno bravo.

              Re: My oven Plans

It was a great find and well within my budget too.

The insulation I'm using is from a local supplier in the UK and I'm unsure if I can add links here so I won't post them, but I have been assured its sufficient for my needs.

The blanket cover is called "Superwool Ceramic Fibre Blanket 50mm 128kg" I'll double on the insulation taking it to 100mm.

The base insulation will be "ceramic fibre board 30mm"

              And toped with firebricks.

It's the recommended insulation, but do you think I should go more on the base considering it's a timber frame?

                Re: My oven Plans

I think if your local supplier who sells the insulation says it's sufficient, I'm sure he knows what he's talking about. I'd say your good to go then! I hope we get to see a picture of your finished project.

                  Hi,

Yes they are a reputable supplier so I would trust their judgement I guess, but saying that they specialise in Insulation and not Pizza Ovens so any advice from this forum is appreciated.

I will start on the project soon as we have some stable dry weather (which could be weeks away based on our climate).

I will keep you posted and upload some pics soon as it's started.

                  Thanks

Well I've finally started my project for oven stand.

Timber purchased and cut to size. Will start bolting and screwing together tonight. Will upload some picture soon as possible.

Thanks for your advice again horrocks.

                      Re: My oven Plans

The 'Superwool Ceramic Fibre' blanket is the same as recommended to me. The advice I got was to get the 25mm thick version as it is easier to fit. Should do the job admirably. The other advice I got was to cover up and use disposable overalls when using the 'wool'. It can make you itchy and irritate eyes etc if care is not used.

I have the disposable overalls and intend to fit the insulation to my recently completed dome this weekend.

                      Good luck with your build.

                      Cheers ........... Steve

Dust mask, glove, eye protection and disposable coveralls (I think Al or Dave the Aussies recommended this and I was done before I saw this but great idea). Really nasty stuff to work with, cut with a utility knife and take your time fitting. I used Superwool CF 1.5" thick X 2 (75mm??)

Thanks for advice guys, I'll ensure my PPE is in place prior to working with the Superwool.

I'm glad someone else has used it and also been recommended it.
