  • Building an oven around an existing standing outdoor chimney

    Hi all!

I bought some land that I will be homesteading and there was at one time a camp that burned down. The only thing left standing was a beautiful old stone chimney, maybe 15 feet high. Because it is not where I want to build my house, and I want to have a pizza oven, I was thinking about making that area an outdoor kitchen and trying to build a cob oven around the structure using it as the flue. It is pretty large I realize, and the place where the wood would go is obviously too low to the ground to cook effectively. Any design/engineering ideas are most appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Steven

Curious to see what folks say. I say funny touch it and use it as an outdoor fireplace and build near it so you can enjoy both. I'm in a very similar design predicament.. let me look for a picture.
