Oven door build

I have found by far and away the easiest and effective method is to use vermiculite board.
For the inner door I use 4mm steel sheet backed with 25mm board just siliconed in place, for the weather door i use wood backed with board.
Easy, relatively cheap and simple but also they work very well.

There are many designs. I built an insulated steel box with a wooden face to the outside.

I am in the process of building a door for my oven. Whats the best material and thickness to use. (steel-Aluminum-3/16-1/4 etc) I will not be using a welder, It will be completly hand made with power tools.
