    I have two types of tiles that I can easily get locally. Both I think are terracotta, but one is quite dense, the first one. The other has a lighter feel to it, and it looks like very small air pockets. I want to see if I can use them for the floor of the oven.

    I am thinking of building a low dome oven for pizzas and would like to know if anyone has any experience in using similar items to the attached? I suppose I am looking for the ability to absorb some heat, but not too readily. And to withstand heat.
