First Cob Oven

I have my cob oven built and it is now drying. I think I may have made a mistake with the interior of my dome. I used clay, straw and sand. Now I have been reading that I should have only used clay, sand. Is this going to be a problem? Should I smooth out the inside with a clay, sand coat or will the straw burn away?

It is a clay oven, burn it and when it fails rebuild it.
