Cast iron pot for dome ?

hi guys, has anyone used an old cast iron pot for the dome? I have attached a picture of a famine pot that I was going to use. Any advice or tips? Thanks

Don't ruin that fine pot. It ought to be rendering lard, cooking cracklings or simmering a fine piney woods stew. Clay is free for the taking. They make bricks every day. But, those cast iron pots are getting hard to find
