    I have not quite finished this build but i have got it working ....

      Thanks Dave, it gets really hot inside the re burning chamber where the vortex is formed at around 870c so finding long lasting materials is a problem.

          Yes they are used in rocket stoves, often as a replaceable part, vermiculite board with two coats of water glass that really soaks in to the surface and give a very hard finish, is also a good way to go but only in relatively small pieces.
          The afterburner where the vortex is formed. Is the main problem area as it needs to be highly insulated but is also the hottest part of the stove.
          Good quality 1400c insulating fire brick is my choice.
          I have just taken the stove apart so i can rebuild it to a better standard and a more permanent installation, i will post an update in a few weeks ......
