    I have been planning to build a pizza oven in the next couple of years but was also wondering if anyone has experience with pit ovens, (earth oven or barbacoa ovens). It seems similar in many ways but would be built into the ground. One built well I think would also hold heat for a day or more but would also be more like an oven. Although I guess a pizza oven would do the same thing only above ground. I guess my real question is does any one have experience with both types and is there a reason to have both. I am getting ready to cook my turkey in a pit oven and just wondered if any one had experience in both types.

    I have experience with both methods of cooking. Pizza is very different to earth oven cooking as earth oven cooking is slow cooking, while pizzas are super fast.
