Copper would be cool! Nic work on the door, Dave.

I take it all your digits are still intact? No fingers lying in the dust.....

    Les,

Actually I ran the screws through the front section only. Then I riveted the last piece into place. My only is concern is what I will do if the screws loosen up!

Anyways... it was my first one. I want to build another using copper for the front. Hopefully I can find some brass rivets to match.

    Thank you Frances!
    It wasn't hard to do.

... I'm currently using a slab of insulating concrete, after my wood doors actually caught fire It works well, but looks UGLY.
Sorry about your burned up door! Maybe you can make a new one and attach the insulating concrete to the inside....

    Finally finished up the door.

It's a bit tight. So I will probably make another, and use this one as my draft door.

    Here's the pic.

    It works pretty well.

The handle is cool to the touch even when the inside is 550f plus.

    Do you have any pics.

I would enjoy seeing some, if you do!

Yeah.. I was a bit worried about the rivets, but I think they add some character.
I can't wait to smoke em up a bit, and get some color on em.

And a few more from last night.

I had a little time to work on it last night. Inside the house!

I've been thinking of covering one side with copper, and after I used one half as a door on Sunday, (it got colored from the smoke). I am definitely going to cover one side now!

    A few more pics.

These are from Sunday, when the weather wasn't so bad.

I shall make great use of my band aid collection.

    Quite extensive I might add!

Lots of sharp edges there Dave. Hope you're still wearing those gloves!

Interesting way of attacking the door issue. Look forward to seeing your progress. Remember to post pics of any fingers cut off along the way.
