Re: Cypress Build
Looks fantastic! Good place for the tools, out of the way but handy and they look cool at that angle behind your sloping wall against the oven.
Great job!, Dino

Re: Cypress Build
Well, I have finely finished the dome or I hope. I put another 2?layer of refectory cement, cer. Blanket and another 4?of Ver/Portland mix. Finished with a fortified mix of White Portland, Sand, and Bonding. I plan to stain the outer coat this next weekend. I plan to start the other half of the kitchen in a few weeks I am going to enjoy this project a little. It sucks that the temp here is going to hit over a 100F and 80% humidity. If you look at the pic you can see the counter that I built on the side of the dome to hold cooking supplies. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,

Re: Cypress Build
Had my pizza party this weekend and cooked about 30 pizzas. No one tells you how cooking is like working a blasting furnace all day. With the heat index at 105f and an oven at 800 to 900f, it gets hot. Everyone that had pizza or bread this weekend loved it, so it is a success so far. I have one crack that keeps rearing its ugly head in new places. I will be putting the final blanket on this week and the final coat of ver & Portland mix. I have been looking for some finishes and was thinking about staining and sealing my final coat of cement. Has anyone had any issues with this? I will post some pic later.Last edited by Cypress; 01-10-2017, 08:21 AM.

Re: Cypress Build
close
Finished the flue and chim this weekend and put 1" refectory cement, blanket, and 3" of vermiculite and Portland mix on now letting dry. This weekend will put the final coat of refectory cement on for scratch coat. Now questions can I prime and use cement paint or do I need to just use synthetic stucco?

Re: Cypress Build
Spent the holiday weekend working on my oven. I put some small fires in to start curing process. I have one long crack, but I just have a thin coat of motor on it now. I will put another coat on tonight. Should I worry about the crack? I did not see anything on the inside. I was going just to cover it up with the 2nd coat should I be concerned? After the next coat of motor at about? Inch then I will put two coats of refractory cement each at 1? with SS needles in them to finish the insulation on the dome. I have been working on my stone work till I can get back on the dome?
Best Regards
