    I'm laying the firebrick for the cooking surface. I've never done this before and I have a dumb question. The fireclay/sand mixture that is used to level the firebrick - is this a dry mixture (no water) or a wet mixture (added water)?

    Wet

    Wet-you mix it to a mortar like consistancy and spread it with a notched trowel so the floor bricks can be nudged down to the correct level
