WFO's do produce soot, lots of it, but mainly in the startup phase. Maybe just an extended startup with a tiny fire working your way up? I just do not see the huge stack solving the problem and it is ugly and problematical in high wind or earthquake events.

FYI, mine is about 10' but is right next to the house and under a tree, and there are zero soot spots on it or the neighbors house about 30 feet away.

I am in THE SAME SITUATION aaaarugh!

My husband and i happily purchased an outdoor wood stove. And we also had /have issues with the neighbor. They claim they got COPD from us ..LOL no friggen way. We've had the unit now for a month. Since them we have had to move unit in another spot further from their home. But still the issue of smoke. Last week we had gotten a telephone pole put in the ground right next to stove. SO FRIGGEN UGLY i CANT stand it. But i am backed up in a corner and have no other options. Just to save money on oil/Pellets .
To get to the point..... I have a 25 ft stack on my wood stove. I have the stack attached to the pole with many brackets .First off this was a bad mistake. Due to leaking pipe from too much creosote / Ive had two fires. i had used the thin tin that home depot sells. BAD MOVE. So now my entire operation is down. We will still be keeping the pole. and in the process of hiring an insured chimney company to keep the same idea . But use double wall pipe and keep it spaced away from the pole for air to travel around it. In the end. i know when all is said and done. That bastard neighbor will still take me to court. He has already threatened me that he would. Hope your situation has gotten resolved also. last thing we need is the stress of all this.

Thanks for contributing to the discussion. I'm not really using my oven anymore. I added several feet for a total of eleven plus the cap...but I've never actually lit it up since I did that a few years ago.
