I think i will re-investigate the options at bunnings.

I might also check out some cleaning supply places.. i think some of their mops are the same handles.

Have you found any other bargain or decently priced items online or on ebay?

I bought this infrared thermometer about a month ago. It seems ok and if it only lasts a few years i don't care as it's cheap. Seems easy enough to calibrate but to be honest I haven't really played around with it yet.
It's priced at $39.95 but there is a make an offer option and I got it for $30.

I saw that page some time ago and thought the prices were too dear, for me anyway.

I was impressed with the tools at: Wood Fired Oven Tools : Pizza Shovel : Mezzaluna : Bread Knife with Slicing Guide but wanted to make my own.

              Mine used similar dimensions.

The materials weren't expensive, maybe about $100 all up.

The handles are 1 1/4" dowel from Bunnings as is the broom head (cut in half for a spare). The stainless came from a sheet metal company and I cut it on the bandsaw. The shafts are 1/2" stainless from Edcon Steel heated and forged then rivetted to the tools with brass rivets.

Given the time it took the bought tools are a bargain!

I can vouch for the coal scoop, a great tool.

The trowel and pan hook are my most used tools... indispensable
