Large Bunnings will sell Fire Clay. And they also sell Brickies sand. Where are you based?
The build has started. 40" pompeii. With mosaic tile exterior.

Bought the sand, cement, lime and fire clay at the Bunnings in Alexandria. About $40 for the 4 bags. The fire clay is stacked next to the sand, not in the garden dept.

And hey, watch out for the lime. It'll burn if you get some on your skin and it gets wet. I had a stinging rash/itch on my arm today and I think it might have been the lime - there was a small hole in the bag and some lime power got on my clothes.

Edit: Alexandria not much use to you if your user name is any indication of your whereabouts...

Yeah got it on special order from my local binning. Didn't use too much of it. Found it made the mix very hard to work. All finished now!!

Hi All. Does anyone have the brand name or part number for the fire clay? I am trying to get some through special orders but they are having trouble tracking some down.

If I recall right, check with a brickie supply store and look for mortar clay. Just recently there was a thread talking about finding fire clay in the Southern Hemi. Try a search on this.

Update, I did a quick search and Unimin FireClay at Bunnings came up.

                  Hi
Looking for some advice. We've found a product at Bunnings which is a premix of sand, cement and hydrated lime https://dingocement.com.au/product/m...ix-handy-pack/ We called Dingo and they let us know the ratio is 3-4 parts sand: 1 part cement: 1 part lime. We're adding 1 part fireclay to this for our mortar. Can anyone see any issues with using this product that we haven't realised? Or has anyone used this product?
                  Cheers
