    Hey Grant,

I've got the front arch done now and have had an industrial heat gun inside the oven that has slowly been turned up each day to begin the cure process. Over four days we have now reached 100c. The air coming out has been steadily getting drier, but is still holding a fair bit of moisture. I'm away tomorrow but am considering that it's time for a small fire on Sunday...

Once I've got it dried out a fair bit, then I'll do the render coat over the top.

The hearth fitting was on Christmas eve - fast forward a little (and with a lack of photos I'm afraid) to last week...

Looks like a great entertaining space. Good luck. I'll keep watching the thread to see your progression.

That sounds like it will do the trick, and look quite cool to.

    H Grant,

I'm in Plamerston North - so less of a shaking problem and more of a wind one instead!

I'm going to push on with the bricks I have, but make up an external steel skeleton of sorts that I will dyna-bolt to the bricks once they are all in place. Hopefully that will solve the problem of not having the cores cemented together. On the plus side, this isn't our "forever" house and, like a lot of the garden, is more of a trial!

Hi there I like your area, What part of the country are you in? Iam in Christchurch, and I would be putting as much steel in your base as you can scrounge up,
You wont need long bits but put them were it matters on the corners if you can and where the blocks meet you oven floor.

It will help when the weight goes on and if your foundations move... and dear I say the word, if you have a tremor.

    Grant.
