I have also read it's important to get the sand mould out as soon as possible for this reason. How long it will take a 900mm diameter lump of 55mm thick clay to firm up enough is still...

Reply to Questions About DIY "Mortar"by UtahBeehiverNo, we see these vcrete or pcrete oven show up on YouTube all the time and it is not in your best interest to use mix as your main dome. It is an insulative mixture. There have been several Canadian builds done in 2020 so look at their builds for clay sources. Although difficult they did find the material....

by UtahBeehiverYep, several builders have just poured in dry perlite or vermiculite in the enclosure. Blocking out the corners with spacers, IE plastic soda bottles or scrap sheet rock. Are you talking leca balls as aerated clay?
