  • Moving oven to new house?

Hey guys, I built this oven back in 2013 and it's been amazing. https://community.fornobravo.com/for...ild-36?t=19911

We have recently sold our house and will be moving about 15 minutes away to a new place. I was thinking about having a Hi-ab truck come and pick the oven up and transport it to the new property. Has anyone done this, and how did the brick work hold up?

I do have a wooden base which should make life easier, but it still might weigh around 1500kg if I recall correctly.

    Cheers.

There have been a couple members that have moved their ovens. One in the UK another in the US and I believe they were brick and they made the move successfully. Can't remember the links so you will have to do a search on the forum.

Update, here is a link to the US one

I haven’t moved something quite that heavy, but I did have to move a large outdoor grill setup a few years back. I found that using a Hi-ab truck or crane is definitely the way to go for big, bulky items like this—especially if you’ve got a solid base for support.

If everything is secured properly, it should hold up just fine, but I’d recommend padding any vulnerable spots just to be safe. I also got some help from furniture movers who specialized in handling large and fragile items: https://threemovers.com/furniture-movers/. They helped make sure everything was balanced and protected during transport. Good luck, and hope the oven settles in nicely at your new place!
