Hi Mark, there is a build video with dimensions on my youtube channel, I have built a bigger six inch version as well as other designs of rocket stoves.
Rocket stoves are very clean burning and can be used for many applications but mainly for heating a mass inside a home.
The concept is to heat a dense mass like fire bricks and let the mass radiate into the home, so with one to two firings a day you can get 24hours of heat with very little fuel!
However I mainly use mine for cooking, there are plenty of rocket mass heater pizza ovens but Generally speaking they do not offer enough BTUs to heat a large pizza oven.
Thank you for your reply. I'll have a look at your channel. When I google rocket stoves I mainly find steel pipe versions. Your one is really much, much cleverer!
Yes the metal ones are very basic but fun things to start off with, the problem with metal is it will degrade very quickly if you add insulation, but insulation is essential if you want a clean smoke free burn.
The most powefull rocket stoves are called Batch Box Rocket Stoves, they will send the temperatures up over 1000c
There is one dedicated english speaking forum and few side threads on other forums.
The J tube design is the most popular and they make fantastic heating and cooking stoves.
