I previously built a 48' oven with a center chimney and have missed it since relocating to Bainbridge Island 2 years ago. Out with the old and in with the new!
The new oven is incorporating lessons learned from the first build and I made it 54" this time--- bricks are cheap and the last oven was well enough insulated I could get it to 800 degrees in about 40 minutes.
Frame is 2 x 2 x 1/4" square tube and has a foundation with insulation cast into it- 3" firebricks + 1" ceramic fiberboard under the hearth and 6" ceramic fiber blanket over the dome and sides. Here is a link to some pics of the build:
