hi there,
I'm just about to start the firebrick on my first oven build. I'm definitely worried about all the variables I've been reading about such as not getting hot, not holding heat, cracking etc.
I have poured 2" of Kast-O-Lite insulated refectory on my hearth slab and intend to lay a firebrick hearth on that. I am toying with the idea of pouring an inch of Unicast-70 refectory cement on top of the firebrick to provide a nice smooth and level surface. Anybody have any experience with that? (I'm worried about it cracking)
Here's a photo showing the point I'm at. Any suggestions, advice before I continue would be much appreciated.
thanks,
