I actually read the stickies (and the first post one
) so I thought I'd throw an introduction out here. Looking at buying my first house this summer because I've outgrown condo living a bit. One of the biggest draws was building a brick oven for bread and the occasional pizza. I'll probably chime into some other forums with some questions eventually.
Live in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada, but actually used to live in England where I did an M.A. in Roman Archaeology so I'm quite a bit more familiar with roman ovens, kilns and construction than the average joe. I'm glad I stumbled across forno bravo's Pompeii oven write up, it's definitely handy seeing so much information in one place. I'm fairly handy (actually have a journeyman steamfitter ticket) but masonry's one trade I was never involved in so it'll be a bit of an adventure.
