  • Another Brick laying & Chimney question from a "Newbie"

    I am building an oven using 9" fire brick with a 30" interior diameter. I am using a sand mount as my mold. The first round of bricks I did full bricks going vertically with the wide side facing in/out rather than thin side. I have done 2 more rounds with half bricks and staggering the seams but again with wide/square part of the brick facing in/out rather than thin. If I continue in this fashion will my oven be structurally sound?

    Should I consider turning then on their sides for the remaining rounds or brick?

    Chimney question - My chimney will be located in the entrance arch - Can I make my chimney only out of brick then add a chimney top to keep rain out or do i need to purchase a stove pipe.

    If I go with all brick what are the minimum interior dimensions so that it will draw.
