Patio brick or concrete base

Well i'm finally going to do it! Been dreaming about this for years and now is the time. The first question is this: We are building the oven just south of Tucson, AZ. We just had pavers put in yard and corner where I'm going to put the oven. The soil was hard packed desert, sand was machine tamped, and then the pavers. The pavers seem extremely solid. Does anyone think I should still pour a reinforced 4" concrete slab or can I dry stack the base right on the pavers? Thanks for your thoughts on this and we will start in November when we get down there. You can count on more questions.
