Dome on floor

Hi,

I have a castable dome and after reading info on here I'm not going to mortar my fire bricks down, but do i sit the dome on a bed of mortor on top of the fire bricks?

My floor is the same width as the dome so it will be sat on the very outer edge of the floor then I'm going to add a blanket and render up.
