I have completed my oven and fired it at temp about four times. The last time I got it up to about 900 degrees. I've developed a couple of cracks the smoke comes out of. This does not hinder the performance of the oven and I am having a blast cooking pizza. Here is my problem! I want to do a mosaic. The outside of the oven got up to about 200 degrees. This crack and outside temp led me to believe that tiling it at this stage would be a huge mistake. Last week I mixed up some fire mortar from the recipe at forno bravo and applied a 1/2" layer. I just fired it up for the third time and the top bricks turned white(700degrees) with no cracking on the outside. The outside temp is about 110 degrees.
Can I tile right over this?
do I need a certain type of mortar?
What type of grout?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
