Comet Ping Pong
5037 Connecticut Ave NW
Washington, DC 20008
I've forgotten to add this one. It's a Forno Bravo oven and the restaurant is very funky and modern, and a huge hit in DC. There are a ton of great reviews out there -- just Google Comet Ping Pong. Here's a Washington Post review:
... The just-opened Comet Ping Pong pizza joint (5037 Conn. Ave.; 202-285-0567) is going to be mobbed once word gets out, not so much for the food -- just pan-size pizzas from a roaring wood oven and two salads for the moment -- but for the funky, New York-meets-LA vibe owners Carole Greenwood and James Alefantis have created next to their Buck's Fishing & Camping.
That's not to slight the pies, but to bring attention to a setting that is unlike any other in Washington right now. I love the theme, which is carried out in tables that look like ping pong tables and globe lights that look like ping pong balls. The music is great; the servers are amusing (ask for Trevor, an artist with a penchant for doodling on envelopes and sending them to friends and even strangers); and the bathrooms will make you laugh. Check it out!
