Gum tree mix of Ghost and iron bark as far as I can see. Its regrowth so its anything up to 75 mm (3 In). I have got some older stuff from the same block which I seasoned dry in a cooling oven and it burns great. The offers good for more its just stowage room till it drys

Mates son was clearing the undergrowth of a 5 acre block......Come and get this wood Today or it will be gone.

I arrived chainsaw in hand ready for a long day. The woods already docked into lenghts and 3 people waiting to load it into the ute.
Now does it get any better....

Pinecone as a wood source......
Mentioned to my wife that pine cones were a good kindling to light fires and as a result last time we went for a drive she collected a few...a few to many.
She managed to fill the ute with about 3 barrows worth. Yes the little stinkers are good to lite fires but not that many and how to stow 3 barrows worth neatly!
Finally one sun when I only needed to get enough heat to cook a roast I burnt about 2 1/2 barrows worth. Lasted about an hour which is just right for a roast which doesn't need pizza heat and cooks great in that slowly cooling oven over about 3-4 hours.
They burn real hot and spluter and spark heaps but what the heck the flames long gone by the time you cooking a roast

good to hear your around. Yes I'm still burning fences there some pretty old ones around my area...about 50 yrs old and hardwood. An old bloke up the road supplied my last lot . Cut to 300mm lenghts in bundles too I got a coupla mtres worth and some lucky bugger got the rest bet he didn't send over a hot pizza . Recon I got dibs on the remainder when its pulled down But you got to be sure that there not treated that law in QLD got to be 20 yrs old now?
Found that if I run out of good dry wood that a quick drive around the park and bits a bush in the local area will turn up some tree falls. A barrow worth in the back of the ute will give me a good burn.
Also burn the old golden cane fronds there full of oil an even the the 1/2 dried ones burst into flame in a hot oven. The neighbours love me and chuck em across the fence when I flash up the oven. Only problem is they produce heaps of ash which you have to clear before finishing things of with a bit of good hardwood

be careful if your useing old pailings they may be treated pine and the old ones were cca treated

for fiewood im lucky i work at a trussplant as a sawyer so i get all the good bits

depending on the application i use hardwood mixed with pine

i have been trying a few things lately that have suprised me a little when i have already used the oven a day or so earlier i have been using straight pine to get the oven back up to temp and it's been working fine

as for how much i get it depends if want to load the ute right up or just take a handful

Isn't it funny how things go....I started my oven last june(begining of winter) and had the major work done by sept....then it started to rain which slowed things down somewhat. Now its june again and if it doesn't rain again till next wed as predicted it will be the first 5 days without rain since Xmas.....
Dougs basically built his oven in spring/summer...I don't know how... Coffs is sub tropical , my bro used to live there and its bloody hot and steamy without the rain.
Don't blame you if your slowed down by the wet and cold cause it pretty cold and wet up here This wheather will change and you'll have it ready in the spring for sure

Hi Doug, I'm a shift worker (Train Driver) and happen to be on morning shift this week.
The oven is at a stand still as it's either to wet to work, to cold or I'm to tired.

Just an update on the latest free wood - undoubtedly of the best I have used. I was cooking 40 mins after starting the fire. Despite burning quickly it produced a wonderful bed of coals. Have scheduled the collection of the remainder of the tree for this Saturday. Too good to miss...
