    John, glad the pics helped.
I have fired my oven several times in low temps. Works great!

Have either of you used the oven in the winter, say in 20? to 30? temps?

By the way, Ken, I must have watched/looked at your pics and video a hundred times before attempting construction of my oven. Thanks for the tutorial!

    Thanks again.

The coldest day I fired my oven last winter it was -10F. I think we made a roast or a couple of chickens it is 41F out right now and the oven is 400f and making some chili.

I plan to fire the oven this winter on a -20F day to see how it performs.

Yes, I've had to shovel a path to get to it. To be honest, I don't use it nearly as often because of the hassle.

I did exactly as Les and didn't have any issues when the warm weather returned.

I wrapped mine up with a plastic tarp. I stacked some block and placed a basketball so it would allow rain / snow to run off. I also placed a ton of brick on the tarp so the winds wouldn't blow it to Utah.

    Winterizing

I live in central New York Satet and built a brick dome oven this fall with the FB plans and got as far as completing the dome and chimney but ran out of time to add the insulation layers over the brick and mortar of the dome before it got too cold. Does anyone have any ideas about winterizing the oven to prepare it for completion in the spring, and also general winterization for a brick dome oven in the NE climate? Thanks!
