A quick FYI for those in central SC looking for materials...
Woodley's Garden Center on Two Notch Rd in Columbia has 4 cu/ft bags of medium and coarse vermiculite for $24.95 each as of today. Might want to call ahead to ask about availability as I got the impression they only keep 4-6 bags on hand at any time... (I bought 6 yesterday and only two were left.)
Boral Brick on US1 at I-20 has medium duty firebrick for 88? each. They also have fireclay for $19/50lb bag. The sales office is next to Subway and the brickyard is just around the corner.
Carolina Ceramics on Two Notch has light duty firebrick for 78? each and fireclay (identical product as Boral) for $25/bag.
Most other supplies for my build came from Lowes, HD and the local concrete plant.
