I have 4 bags of fireclay that I would like to get out of my garage...Free for the taking. Drop me a line if you are interested or give me a call (608)295-1371
Hi Peter,
My zip is 16803. Please let me know if I can pay you for your time/trouble for shipping them. I'm sure it is not on the top of your list to haul those bags to be shipped. Thanks again. Mike
I cannot find it locally which is why I went searching for it on the trade/sell thread. None of the masonry supply clerks seem to know what I am talking about when I ask for it. I also called a local potter but he uses a different kind of clay for his work. I can get Heatstop locally but after reading on the forum it seems like a lot of builders prefer the "home brew". I will go that route if I cannot find a good way to get the fireclay. If you would like to wait it out to see if someone will come and pick it up rather than shipping it, I completely understand. Thanks again. Mike
Thanks for the link. The closest refractory is in Altoona and they primarily work with ceramics and do not sell fireclay. All others are at least 3hrs away. I live in the epicenter of Pa. with nothing close by. Mike
I have no problem shipping it, I was just curious since I had no problem finding it.I will see if I can find an easy( and economical) way to get it to you. Happy to help in any way...Peter
Hi Peter,
I am in Pittsburgh (3 hours away)this weekend and stopped by a fireplace/hearth store and they had some fireclay. I went ahead and bought some. I hope you have not gone to too much trouble. The weather here is starting to turn and I need to get rolling. I hope I did not cause you any inconvenience and thank you for your generous offer. Have a great weekend. Mike
No problem, I am glad you were able to find some at what was, I expect, a more reasonable cost...and you got to catch the sights in Pittsburg...Let me know when you get started and get some pictures posted
