Re: 400 Fire bricks for sale in Brisbane Australia

      Hi Kombiman
      one advert quotes the following.
These bricks were recovered from Dinmore Pottery, Ipswich QLD. 27 years
ago with which we built our previous home. The 2 kilns and chimney stack were 2 of the first pottery kilns built some 75 years ago hence the bricks are over 100 years old. The bricks are solids (not extruded) in good condition, have been fully cleaned and stacked on pallets (400 per pallet). The bricks have a beautiful selection of colours from whites to beiges to mauves to creams to pinks to ochres to browns and some have completely brown glazed faces. These bricks as you can see from the photo would make an interesting feature wall/s, wood fired pizza/bread oven, paving, water features or as we did build your complete home featuring these bricks.
      25 pallets available.
PRICE LISTED IS PER PALLET (400 bricks).
      Definitely a one off.
I would doubt whether they would be able to tell you the type of 'fire brick' they are, just where they came from and what they came out of.
My firebricks in my Pompeii, are very similar to those, they came out of the old abattoir boiler and only came into contact with a heat source and water. I paid $1 each for mine which was a great buy.
You can ask whether they are low, medium of high fire and will weigh around 3kg for low fire and increasing considerably as their heat range increases. Apart from that, all you can do is have faith. I would not hesitate to buy but the freight to Adelaide would be at best $200 per pallette! and I don't need any at present.
There is a very reasonably priced transport company Rick Cobby P/L with depots in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, they are half the price of others but you need to get the goods to their collection poits.
      Keep in touch.
