I was out in the bush again today and came across this beautiful 3' (900mm) long lace monitor, simply stunning, I would have liked a cuddle but the monitor didnt... and scampered further up the tree.
These fire ants are ants from hell. They bite with one end while stinging with the other end. The sting feels like fire, hence the name fire ant. You get a pustule with every bite. They kill everything that lives or grows on the ground.
While I was thinking of importing one of your anteaters, I remembered reports of the importation of rabbits to Australia and toads to some Pacific islands where they flourished and displaced native animals....Nevertheless, we have begun ti import a little fly which inserts its egg into a crack in the armour of the fire ant and ultimately kills it. I hope it works.
P.S. Fire ants would swarm that ant eater and kill it with ten thousand bites, then use it for food.
