  • Running/Fundraising Update From James: Two Marathons in One Day

Two marathons in one day? What?

Here's an update from James on his running and fundraising work:

Well, Boston 2 Big Sur was such a success, I am going to try something even more challenging. On December 4, 2011, I will be running the CIM 2 Las Vegas Challenge - two marathons in one day. It should be fun, crazy and pretty difficult.

CIM 2 Las Vegas Challenge | Forno Bravo Charity Work

On December 4, 2011, I will be racing the California International Marathon (CIM) in Sacramento in the morning, and then flying to Las Vegas to race the Rock-and-Roll Marathon that evening (the world's largest nighttime running event. That equals 52.4 miles by foot and 550 miles by airplane ? in a 12-hour period.

In addition to the mileage, the CIM 2 Las Vegas Challenge brings a couple of new hurdles. In order to catch the flight from Sacramento, we need to run CIM at a pretty fast 3:15 pace. For the second marathon, we not only have to stretch out some tired legs, but we also need to finish the race in less than 4:30 (or be swept off the course). The Las Vegas Marathon has a cut-off time because we will be racing on the Strip, and we need to give the casinos their road back.

    This might be tough.

As always, Forno Bravo is a recognized fundraiser for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, and we are helping them reach their mission of curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information and advocacy.

I met with members of the Reeve Foundation, along with other fundraisers and some great people who have been helped by the foundation, at the Boston Marathon this spring, and it feels really good to be a part of this community.

We will continue offering "Team Reeves" versions of the Forno Bravo eBook Series for $10 each, and Forno Bravo will match all contributions. Of course the standard free version of each of our five eBooks will continue to be available.

Forno Bravo has raised thousands of dollars for charity over the past few years, and we are excited about this new opportunity.
