Keeping with the theme of this forum, it must be an early version of a dough docker

      I'm thinking it's a medieval back scratcher.

It looks like a crude but effective weapon.

Has to be some sort of spiked mace, so in a sense, it is a meat tenderiser. Those old tyme bastards were pretty hard core with their weapons.

                    Well done.
Its a knobkerrie used in the trenches in WW1, you would sneak into the enemy trenches and use the knobkerrie to persuade your opponent to give you his lapel colours so you could see who you were fighting.

This one is a genuine Australian one, the timber is Kaurri pine and the strap is off a gas mask.

Love your choice of words - "persuade your opponent"

Just curious, have you had it swabbed for DNA or traces of.....blood? Would certainly add to its provenance if you had evidence of battle use. I know, gruesome thought, but it is done all the time with war artifacts.

I havent had it swabbed, its been looked at by a curator of a military museum and deemed genuine.
I will donate it to the Canberra war museum in the future.

Good onya, mate. As cool as these things are to own, they do have a story to tell. Far too many people these days don't know much about history (its really terrible here in the US). Any efforts to educate the masses are greatly needed, history museums are #1 in my book.
Thanks for sharing these cool finds.
