      Hi
Can we add C or F to temp readings as a general aid? I'm already in strife for saying I've had a tandoor up to about 1000 deg. and having my son say "so you are melting alloy in it then?

      Bloody kids!

      Regards

          This is snow!
We've just returned from Japan and our temp at home here is now 33 C and 60% humidity. A bit of a shock to the system.

ID:	288150The Japanese in our little village were kept really busy clearing snow. They are often on the top of their roofs shovelling it off. They never seem to have accidents falling off apparently. We had about 1.5 m fall in the ten days we were there.

Wait a minute! Let me get this straight: You left Australia snow to vist the snow in Japan?

David lives in the tropics, we rarely get snow in Oz in summer, unless you live in the southern part and even then its really rare.

Actually Al, as a skiing enthusiast I can recall a few occasions when there has been snow on the Aus Alps at Christmas time. Heavy thunderstorms are common around Christmas and hay harvesting was always problematic because of the strong chance of rain spoiling hay bales. I think that is one of the reasons most hay is now harvested in giant circular things which shed water better.
There's no chance of snow here!

GF It was part of a strategy to escape the oppressive tropical heat here for a couple of weeks.

                      Gudday
Heard on the radio Thredbow had snow falls, a night low of -4C and a day temp of 7C. That would have been Wed or Thurs......so much for summer

                      Regards Dave

Duh! Somehow I forgot that the only real snowfall in your part of the world is at altitude in NZ, right?

We get a small cover of snow up on the higher hills in winter, but we are in mid summer at the moment....

Some people regard NZ as part of Australia, but officially not yet. We get snow on the Australian Alps, but anyone who is a skiing enthusiast discovers that Australian snow is inferior, lift tickets exorbitant, accomodation and food both expensive. It is cheaper to go to NZ or Japan.

                              Check these out, absolutely magnificent!!
The snow monkeys were about 45 mins away from our village. They laze about in these hot springs for ages during winter, not at all bothered by inquisitive humans.
