    Its the same here.
We havent had rain for 3 months, well nothing to talk about, the other night we had a rumble come through, we thought we'd get a bit of rain but it was just the proverbial 6 drops that didnt even join up on the concrete driveway.
The rumble was a dry one and set more fires with the lightning strikes.

It seems drier now that it was in the middle of the drought.

We usually use the tanks (12,000 litres) to flush the loo and do the laundry, they dried up weeks ago, I have 1x3000 litre tank reserved for watering the 3 chooks, even that is running low.

We did the whole East coast trip many years ago in summer and I must say Coffs was one of the nicest places we stayed, the weather was just right.

The tail end of the tropical cyclone a few weeks ago dumped 275mm in 24 hrs on us, but hardly a drop since and this is our wet season. Fortunately the rain has returned today. Gentle soaking rain for most of the day.

We went from dry tanks to overflowing to flooded, in a matter of days.
Think it was over 800 mill in 2 days after over 3 months of nothing.

            Gudday
I woke this morning to a heavy wheather warning. A low is forming off the coast mid QLD today and will be heading south east towards us. I pray that Bunberburg is spared any more. We have had few weeks now to dry out and get the excess out of the dams so we should be right.
Put new windscreen wipers on the truck this weekend as the old ones had dried up in the heat and dry over Xmas, sounds like I will need them.

Re: The joys of living in South Oz

Here in Virginia it's cold and the wind is making it worse. It rains or snows 3 to 4 times a week making everything a mud hole.

Interesting you guys have water storage tanks. I have a number of natural springs that flow strong all year long.

              Spring will soon be here...

Think I need to get a winter house in Oz then I could just follow the good weather.

                Gudday Faith
Rain tanks are becoming more common and are to be put in all new housing. They run the toilets and washing machines and used to water outside. Water is a scarce resource in Oz especially if you consider that no new dams have been built since the Burdekin in nth QLd in 1983
