Thank you James. I believe this is going to get all us members very excited and proud of those that have contributed hard work building them, and those that already have. Please admit all people with completed ovens for judging by the members. I guess there is no need to repeat my thoughts, so many other great builders will have ideas to share.

Absolutely. All builders should submit. One vote won't get a win, it will be determined by the peers. Multiple categories sounds great. So many elements to dome making that pleases so many. We may even get more participation from some of the silent members...

I know many of you reading this agree that it is a great idea. Even more so, the kindness of James to present prizes for the different categories based on so many people and the hard work sacrificed to make such a special oven. I personally wish more of you would throw ideas about the prize or how to help James with this... It will help all of us, and be something very special. Agreed?

I'm doing some research, and have come across one approach. We can set up a system where we have a Best of the Month, or Best of the Quarter award. Members would "nominate" their favorite thread or photo, and for a period of time member will "second" that nomination with an additional posting saying "I second that". After a week or two, I would go through the nominations, count the 5 that have the most "seconds", and then post those 5 in a standard forum poll. We get to vote in the poll, and the one with the most votes wins. FB would send out a prize (food or accessories), and I have found software that lets us attach "award" icons to the winners signature.
What do you all think? Does this get close enough to our awards goal?
It might be fun doing awards more regularly, rather than just year end. Also, my research has made the think more about what the award categories might be, and how they would be nominated. For example, do we want to give awards based on the best threads or photos, or rather, for the best oven, the best vent, the best pizza, etc.?
My problem is that I was thinking of sandbagging my project till next year because the competition is pretty stiff this year but looking at recent posts there will be a bumper crop of quality ovens next year. If I sandbag it until 2009 to have the chance to win some caputo flour my wife will leave me. The question is.... how good is that flour???
Cheers, John

John, you are absolutely classic. You win just based on humor. James said it could be monthly. You may want to time which month Again, you are absolutely funny.
