  • Best of the Month December 2007

I figured since I won the November contest, I could kick off the nominations for December.

I'd like to nominate jcg31 (Jim) for his amazingly precise dome work, improvement of Hendo's dome gauge and the really cool etched keystone (are we going to need a contest just for keystones?? ).

I also would like to again thank all the wonderful people on this forum for the great help and advice I've received; and especially James at Forno Bravo. I would never have attempted building an oven without a support group. This is a really fun bunch of folks. Thank you ALL!

      Congrats to Ken, well deserved.
I'm going to second the nomination of jcg31 (Jim); the dome work is awsome - fantastic idea on the keystone - Just saw the latest pics of his vent - love that design too. He will have an incredible oven very, very, soon. I can't wait.

Yep, me too: Congratulations Ken, you deserve it!

I would like to third the nomination for jcg31, for his cool keystone idea and his great dome - including the flared entryway, which is just beautiful!

I'd like to add that I was very pleased and flattered to have been nominated for November... I will carry my "FB BOTM nominated builder" status with pride. Thank you!

Re: Best of the Month December 2007

Hey, nobody interested in this competition anymore? Won't be much good with only one nomination...

So I'd like to nominate Neil2's flying saucer hearth, which is just really really neat.

Oh, and Dave's cooking. He seems to be cooking in his oven about twice a day, while firing only once a week. And I don't know about the rest of you, but the pictures he posts just make my stomache rumble...

I also would like to nominate Dusty's dome for some superior craftsmanship. I was just looking at his arch work. Pretty nice looking design!

I would also like to nominate Wayne Bergman (waynebergman) for his elegant, beautifully done arch and floor design. The 4-brick keystone is a show stopper!

I nominate Jim for the consistant work applied throughout the oven building, as well as the craftmanship of the arch, great work. Dusty is my close second.

Re: Best of the Month December 2007

Time to nominate a build from the past, no sense in the newbies getting all of the glory.
I nominate Camarina73 for his no form oven. For those who have been on the forum at least 9 months to a year, I'm sure you have seen it. Unfortunetly he only posted a few pics in the gallery and just as few posts in the general forum. He had an entire photo guide to his build on the Yahoo photo site, it has since been removed. His build was a great inspiration to me, I studied every picture for several days before beginning my build.
Anyone interested in seeing his photos may want to drop him a line.
Thats Camarina73 for best build of the past - December

Just to clarify, Acoma is referring to jcg31 (we have quite a few "Jim's" ), and I'll second this nomination. That entry is just amazing.

The thing that drives me nuts about this forum is all the cool stuff I see after I'm finished building that I wish I would have done! I guess I'll have to start avoiding the building threads and stick to the cooking threads .

Once in the building thread you may never leave Ken. Your input always helps, as does all builders of the ovens with valuable advice.
RT, I absolutely agree 100%. This is fun and should include all past builders, this is not about current month ones only. Get Camarina to re post a few in the forum with some input. All would be thrilled to see work admired by the few from the past. We only have through the 15th......
