I've been doing this for hopefully a "temporary" work around.

Select the drop down box at the top right hand corner of the page by the small avatar. Select User Settings. Select the Account tab. Scroll down to Forum Skin and select Default vB5 Style. And then Save Changes. It's like Visine, it will get the red out . It will also free up a lot of the page .Joe Watson " A year from now, you will wish that you had started today" My Build Album / My Build

Thank you Gulf for the Default VB5 solution--it's great to be able to see text again. I also noticed when I edit my profile settings there is a drop down box that gives you the same VB5 option...might be a little quicker. ( Now that we know what the VB5 does, I'm noticing it as an option in a drop box at the lower left bottom of most screens.) Several interesting things in the other profile settings options, I was surprised that there is a check box for automatically subscribing to a thread if you post on it and it is NOT checked. I turned that feature on since I wanted to keep track of threads where I've posted (and "my subscriptions" doesn't seem to be working for me). For finding new topics I've just started using the main forum topics page and chosen each main section to view new posts under that topic...kind of cumbersome, but at least the recent posts are date sorted just under the sticky threads and I can scan for "new" stuff. Eventually we'll all get this figured out...thank goodness for beer and my WFO to help keep my sanity!
By the way, I had 290F residual temp in my oven this evening, so I threw in two ears of corn "Possum Korn" style and baked them for an hour. Took them out and cut a ring around the base to pull off the husk & silk while using the stalk/stem as a handle...delicious and good as ever (definitely never shucking corn the old fashion way again). Hope your summer's looking good!

Mike,
Have you tried this tip that I posted in the Newbie section? It will search the whole forum for new posts.
This may be a temporary "work around" for finding new posts. I've set my bookmark for the forum's Advanced Search Page. When it pops up I select only Last Visit and Forum. It will include posts further back than your "last visit". But, the most recent will be on top.Last edited by Gulf; 08-09-2015, 07:39 AM.Joe Watson " A year from now, you will wish that you had started today" My Build Album / My Build

Yes, I have used your tip on finding new posts...both methods seem to work well for me. I also tried additionally checking the "my subscriptions" search box to help narrow the long list down a bit and it also seemed to work. I'm sure it will be only a matter of us "old dogs poking around the new kennel" for a while longer to figure out how the hell the designers thought we'd want to do things on the forum.

p.s. After checking the signature box in my profile settings, saving, and logging out/in - I finally see my closing signature is being added again...slow but sure we're gaining on it.Last edited by SableSprings; 08-09-2015, 08:52 AM.Mike Stansbury - The Traveling Loafer

If you want to change the forum style - I figured out an easier way to do it. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, there is a dark bar. On the left hand side, there is a drop down menu that lets you change the style on the fly!

It's there now. But, if you change the setting back to Forno, that drop down box will disappear. It may be there only as reminder that you are not viewing the forum as the webmaster (who is probably very young and has not yet suffered from diminished eye site due to aging) had intended .Joe Watson " A year from now, you will wish that you had started today" My Build Album / My Build
