I had to start this thread. I want to know if any of you will admit the feelings I am going through? The night before your first cure is to me like going back to childhood and staying up the night before Christmas. I remember saying to my older brother, look in the sky, it's Santa and the reindeer (it was really a satilite). He would say, Robbie, go to sleep or the presents won't show. Ya right, I passed out. I feel that again, I need to pass out!

Re: Sleep and Curing
Sure, I'll admit to that.
All I can say is, I can remember getting SOOOO agitated through not being able to DO ANYTHING for the oven after I'd lit my one tiny little measly fire for the day...!
It was so hard!! What I would have given to follow this new curing strategy..."Building a Brick oven is the most fun anyone can have by themselves." (Terry Pratchett... slightly amended)

Re: Sleep and Curing
I finished installing my oven in the spring but did not fire it up until the next trip in December....it was sun cured for a summer....how's that for patience?
It is fun to get the oven finished, and then be able to use it as you finish the rest of the project.sigpicTiempo para guzarlos..... ...enjoy every sandwich!

Re: Sleep and Curing
Sorry Robert,
Not one bit of worry before I lit mine. By the old curing regimine, it wasn't much of a fire, and didn't last very long. By now you're well into your first day. Anxious time has come and gone. Now it's just a lot of standing around.
Got anything to cook on the side of the fire? Perhaps some weenies?GJBingham

Re: Sleep and Curing
Nope George. No standing around. I am stacking my Almond inside the storage area of the Oven, dividing shorts, Fats, etc. to maximize use. This oven houses a lot of wood.An excellent pizza is shared with the ones you love!

I'd kill to have some of that almond. I'm not sure they grow around here. Should be great wood!GJBingham
