  • Garbage in your wine?

    Another News item from Italy:

Did you all hear about the wine producers who were caught putting "additives" in their wine? Apparently it was made of 1/3 grape juice - the rest was chemicals, sugar, fertilisers etc. including some carcinogenics. I'll let you guess who is suspected to be behind it...

The "good" news is that apparently most of it concerns low cost wine that was not exported.

Still, I wish they'd solve their garbage problem some other way.
"Building a Brick oven is the most fun anyone can have by themselves." (Terry Pratchett... slightly amended)

This is another blow to Italian food/wine reputation. They obviously didn't learn the lesson of the 80's when the addition of diethylene-glycol (anti freeze) killed a number of people. The practice was even more widespread in Austria. It makes wine taste sweeter............
