  • CajunKnight needs prayers

On Wednesday, Cajun was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was confirmed earlier this morning with a neurosurgeon...having said that...the brain surgery is scheduled for Tuesday 8/12/08 at 2:00 p.m. They will perform the brain biopsy immediately followed by the surgery itself to remove the tumor. They are doing the biopsy in order to determine if it's cancerous prior to the removal. As with any surgery, there is a risk that he may not survive...he is positive that he will make it through with no problem. Following the surgery, there may be weakness of the right side but more likely there will be permanent paralysis. The doctor pretty much guaranteed that there would be paralysis because of the damage he will do when he performs the operation. The tumor is approximately the size of a quarter and 3/4 of an inch deep within the brain itself. This is why the doctor knows that Cajun will be "wounded" as he put it. They will destroy brain tissue to get to the tumor. There is no way around that fact.

A lot of people have asked us if we need anything and the only thing we can come up with is that we need prayer. It's free and only takes a moment to be agreement with us for his healing. Please contact your church and have them pray for Travis, and for me because this feels like more than I can handle right now. I'm asking for strength to handle this and to do what I need to do to help him the best way possible.
There will likely be no changes between now and Tuesday so I strongly doubt that I will send another update until after the surgery.

    Cajun's wife.

Cant type much, ty all in advance.

This may seem like cold comfort, but I know you will find both the strength to deal with this, mainly because you have to. You will go through this and do the best you can all the way. And that is all anybody can ask of you.

Thank you for letting us know. My thoughts are with you.

I'm praying for both of you. You'll find strength where you least expect to- and Frances is absolutely right. You'll find it and get through because you have to. Just put one foot in front of the other until you're there.

          Cajun, ?Mrs. C?,

I imagine you are just totally overwhelmed right now but remember that the body really does have an amazing capacity for healing & recovery and the brain can find incredible ways to re-wire itself too, if it needs to.
I agree with the others, it?s just one foot in front of the other ? maybe easier said than done, so just lean on whoever or whatever helps to keep the spirits strong along the way. I?m glad you feel that we on the FB forum can be a part of that.
My (and my family?s) prayers are with both of you for the best and speediest recovery. I?ll be thinking of you, most especially on Tuesday.

No doubt in my mind Travis! You still have much cooking to do, and knowledge to pass to the rest of us.

You and yours are in my prayers.

Hang in there buddy and an oven build sounds like perfect therapy.

                            Re: CajunKnight needs prayers

We build ovens for the passion of great food. Along the way we build friendships that bond for a very long time. CK and wife, remember that this community is very tight and caring for all involved. Never feel alone, and never believe that the pains of ones health must be hidden. Always know that we will help you through this, some way or another. I believe that if there is ever a setback to your oven from this that there are members whom live near enough, and willing to step up to help. Lastly, be strong and don't feel alone going through this. Go into this headstrong and realize that you will come out ok.
