      Re: Beer

My wife and I were going through our credit card statements and she was complaining that I was spending too much on beer. I pointed out that she actually spent more on cosmetics. In defence she said "but that's to make me look more beautiful to you"
I replied "that's what the beer was for"

        Re: Beer

        Wonderful! !!!

Here in the Philippines we drink San Miguel pilsen, a great beer for the tropics. Not heavy nor "Light" but a golden beer well brewed and always fresh. I never knew how important fresh beer was. Beer doesn't age well. In the army in Germany, a cold place, I'd learned about thick, heavy beer, but fresh. All the beer there is made in the local town. But for hot, a nice pilsen is really the thing. One thing the Filipinos are good at is making booze, rum or beer.

        What do you guys drink?

For me it's home brewed cider. 3 litres per week for about the last 9 years. No bottle washing and about $1 per litre.

            Gudday Dave
Tried one of those oz tops once...... Was pleasantly surprised. It was a black currant juice based really fruity and not to sweet. It must have been one of those 15 per cent alcohol specials.... It really rocked my world.

San Mig is a very good beer ...would have to be one of the best in S/E Asia by far. It's also very safe there are other beer and hoock in other places that are Not. I was a sailor for 21 yrs and tasted a few.
One place in the South Pacific has a local beer only sold in 750 ml bottles that we used "valeuims" . The brewery staff were paid once a month and were able to purchase cut price beer as part of thier wage. You can just tell what happened to the batch due out on pay day! Anyway the ones that found there way into public were dangerous . You would go from drinking beer at 4 per cent to something at 15 per cent whilst still still keeping a beer pace...that was dangerous....talk about cheap drunks!

No kiddin! Gudday Sounds like a roller coaster cobblerdave.

I've heard one of the reasons General MacArthur decided 'I shall return' was his ownership stake in San Miguel.

david s, sounds like a hobby close to my heart.
