Re: From Osaka to Sapporo by Train
With gas prices up, hopefully we'll see more and more passengers trains here in the U.S. We're only a hundred years or so behind the rest of the world.

Re: From Osaka to Sapporo by Train
Hello,Hansen san!
Good question, well for about 600. U.S. dollars per person plus meals that
makes it hard for the average japanese to make this journey this being the cost of a ticket during off season.
During our trip most of the passengers were retired businessmen, older couples and very few families.which made for a quiet journey all the way to
Sapporo.
Reservations are required for lunch and dinner the cost being of about 120.U.S dollars per head.
Well in our plans for the coming year we hope to make the journey from
Sapporo to Osaka to be able to see what we missed on the way up.
Perhaps then the train will be full of people!
We live in Kobe and since they built the airport it takes about an hour and forty minutes to fly to Hokkaido.
But a journey by train still holds a bit of a romantic appeal, don't you agree?
All aboard!!!!!!!!

Looks very nice, but where are all the people? My wife is half Japanese, and we'd love to visit someday.

From Osaka to Sapporo by Train
Hi,everyone !
This is one ride you must take if you ever visit Japan,
The Twilight Express departs Osaka at 11:00 a.m. and arrives the next
morning in Sapporo ,well I should say around lunch time.
what you see in these pics are the salon car ,your regular breakfast
and the last pic Masako and my son Shota.
If you are looking for a long peaceful ride with a beautiful sunset as you ride by the sea of Japan this the perfect ride. The train stops along the way but
for very brief periods so there isn't time to get off and look around.
If you are traveling on a budget you can bring your food onboard.
some people compares it to the Oriental Express!
enjoy the pics
