Re: My Oven/BBQ
Hi Lee,
No, I didn't mean "no" heat, but you should be able to touch the outside of your oven after an hour or more of cooking without it being too hot to leave your hand there.

Re: My Oven/BBQ
James,
you say no heat do you mean NO HEAT
I think I need more, cant see it not getting hot still,
so far I have used 4- 3.5 qf bags of vermiculite on a 32 inch oven.
I think at least 1 or 2 more bags.
Is it overkill ?

Re: My Oven/BBQ
Lee,
The insulation sounds right. The next time you fire your oven, see if you can feel any heat on the outer part of the insulation after a few hours. Probably not, and you're in good shape.
I think the Olive Oil thing is about taste, so go for the one with flavor. See what you like. Sometimes I think it's OK to use an expensive olive oil on pizza because you use so little of it, and it tastes so good. One of those affordable luxury things.
Give it a try.

Re: My Oven/BBQ
Yes it is James, and what a good spring it will be.
In my kitchen, there are two kinds of oil,
Extra virgin Olive oil with flavor,
and Extra virgin olive oil straight up,
It goes on everything.
What brand do you use?
I just put on more Insulation
I think Im at 4 or 5 inches on most
and 6 or 7 in some. Should I put more?

Re: My Oven/BBQ
Spring is coming.
On the swirl thing -- using some type of oil cannister, or a pour spout on your olive oil bottle, swirl a tablespoon or so of high quality extra virgin olive oil on top of your pizza -- right before you put it in the oven. The flavor it great and the oil seems to blends the tomatoes and cheese.
Give it a try, but use the good stuff. You can taste the difference, and you don't use that much of it.

Re: My Oven/BBQ
No you did not mention the olive oil swirl thing,
Please do.
No cooking outside now, trying to insolate and decorate,
but I must eat so I am cooking inside with a stone
Oh my, it is not the same.
Love the wood

User CP should be consistent irrespective of order.
(M) Thanks, Leepin, and Les.
(M) As I understand the User CP we make a choice as to what order we wish to view posts. It is understandable that Les would always need to go to the last post as that must be his setting.
(M) What bothered me was that on some threads I saw the postings chronologically and on this thread, the reverse applied. I thought it should be one, or the other, but not both.
(M) Bottom line: it seems to be an aberration specific to me so I'm fine with dropping this discussion. I can still read all the posts.
Ciao,
Marcel
