    Hey Dave,

I am not sure if it will make a difference or not but it worked out well with the brick bond so I went for it. It might just make it easier for snakes and spiders to make a home in there

    Cheers,

    Matt

Well with the chimney sitting there I couldn't resist lighting a small fire to see how it would draw

    Worked like a charm!!!

I whacked the chimney in position just to see how it would look. I am waiting for the brickwork to dry out before I mount it.

Finally got a bit more time to work on the oven.

Finished the brick work for the chimney transition. Spent most of the day cutting bricks and then an hour to slap them together. I am pretty happy with how it looks. Hopefully it flows ok...

    Hey Steve,

Yes you are right they are extra long bricks designed specifically for the entry. They are 345mm long.

    Cheers,

    Matt

Is it the camera angle or are those bricks in the entry arch extra long? I can hear brickie shaking his head but having no knowledge about bricks generally it is a genuine question.

    Cheers............ Steve

I decided to whack on a rough coat of render (high temp motar) to the dome. The outside of the dome was a bit rough as I had halved all the bricks with a hammer and bolster. I think it might be better to have nice smooth contact with the insulation blanket.

Hopefully have the chimney on this weekend and then I will start curing fires

The next day I pulled out the formwork and cleaned up the inside of the arch.
