I was accidently send insulating firebrick which is not very dense but the formula is close to the forno bravo fire brick formula ... anyway, I was sent the proper brick after talking to the vendor and he let me keep the 16 12x12x3" floor tiles which I told him are way too brittle but he told me I could use them as an insulator. Just wondering what you guys think? Wouldnt this suck in some heat rather than give it back to the oven chamber? They are tc-23 tiles from thermal ceramics and I dont know what the heck to do with them.. just glad the vendor pulled through and got me the proper brick afterward. I think the salesman I was dealing with was new since he gave me that data sheet and I liked the numbers and he told me this would be a great brick for a hearth oven. Man are IFB's brittle.

Re: tc-23
I found a link to a data sheet about this product...maybe one of the engineers here can tell you if they will make a good under hearth insulating layer.
